  • NYU Libraries has a nice install walkthrough here.
  • There are many TeX editors out there. Here is a Wikipedia page comparing them.
  • A great resource for when you don't know the code for a symbol is Detexify. It allows you to draw the symbol then it tries to figure out which symbol you drew and gives a list of those guesses with the command for that symbol and the package needed (if any) to use it.
